Perimeter Fiber Optic Intrusion Detection System.


The Fiber Optic Intrusion Detection System includes on-board digital signal processing technology and is highly resistant to the effects of wind and rain, and is extremely difficult to defeat. Because of the nature of the inert fiber optic cable, the Fiber Optic Intrusion Detection systems are safe for deployment in potentially volatile environments such as chemical depots, petroleum refineries or electrical substations.

Industry consultants suggest improving the level of security by adding an active detection system or sensors to the perimeter fence. There are a number of industry standard options which can get you started on this. 


Perimeter Intrusion detection security systems are based on the core principle of establishing a steady background state and continuously monitoring to detect any change above or below a pre-determined threshold. Changes above or below these thresholds indicates that an intrusion has occurred. To accomplish this, many technologies have been developed and each offers a different method to protect a fence.


SabreFonic sensor cable


SabreFonic sensor cable is specifically designed to provide reliable early warning of intruders by detecting any attempt to cut or climb a perimeter fence.

SabreFonic cable provides a highly effective method of perimeter intrusion detection and consists of a continuously monitored and intrinsically safe, fibre optic sensor cable that is sensitive to a wide range of vibrations, flexing, compression and cutting.

SabreFonic relies on the transmission of laser light as its detection method and so does not radiate signals, nor is it susceptible to electrical interference.

This makes it particularly suitable for use in hazardous industrial locations where there is risk of fire or explosion.
